Mount Meru Climbing

Mount Meru Climbing

The trekking on mount Meru is used as a warm up trekking before attempting its sister Mount Kilimanjaro but the technical necessities required for mount Meru trekking are greater than on Mount Kilimanjaro trekking Routes. Mount Meru is the second tallest mountain in Tanzania and the fifth tallest peak in Africa. The mountain is located inside the Arusha national park which off course dominates the Park by its massive rock faces. On the fourth day of your mount Meru trekking you can see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and monkey; you will be accompanied by park armed ranger on the way up and down the mountain. Visit the volcano Mount Meru which stands high at 4,566 meters above sea level in Tanzania with Serengeti Joy Tours. Mount Meru is one of Africa´s most beautiful dead volcanoes standing today. From the peak of the mount Meru you will have a stunning view on small and large Momella Lakes, Mount Kilimanjaro and the beautiful distant plains of west Kilimanjaro. On the lower slopes you will find different types of landscapes such as grassland, thick forest and rough rocks.

The advantage of Mount Meru compared to Mount Kilimanjaro is that it has been less trekked. This means that there are still large numbers of wild animals and rich vegetation. It is said that in the past Mount Meru was a larger volcano than Kilimanjaro. Because of erosion and explosion she became smaller. Though Kilimanjaro offers the opportunity to stand on the “Rooftop of Africa”, Mount Meru only offers you less sight and adventures compared to Kilimanjaro. Trekking Mount Meru is entirely worth a doing. The minimum age allowed to trekking Mount Kilimanjaro and mount Meru is 16 years according to mountain authority. Serengeti Joy Tours offers quality trekking gears. The porters will carry oxygen tank and other mountain equipment you will be using on the mountain including cooking utensils, chairs, tables, tents, sleeping matresses and your luggage. Our guides are licensed and well trained with years of experience – 9 out of 10 climbers reached the summit of Mount Meru with Serengeti Joy Tours in last year.

I booked a 7 days Machame route ascent to Mt. Kilimanjaro with Serengeti Joy Tours. Everything was fine. Madam Angelica was very responsive on Whatsapp, all went smoothly according to the agreement. My guide, Henry, was perfect as well as all the crew. Food was perfect, there was enough of the water, tent was comfortable, all the team tried hard to make my trip comfortable.

This experience with Serengeti Joy Tours was nothing short of spectacular. Our team was made up of Frank(y) (primary guide), Francis (secondary guide), Shedrack (our chef, Moses (our waiter), and 10 solid porters who worked hard and were delightful to encounter. Frank was an awesome lead guide, always laughing and bringing humor into the mix, even when some times were tough (altitude sickness). He was adaptable and knew how to manage every situation. Both Franky and Francis were very

Angelica was a pleasure to work with from the beginning. She was attentive to our needs, highly flexible and easy to communicate with. The trip was very well planned especially given our time constraints. The 7 day lemosho hike was a success, reaching Uhuru Peak.

This year I decided to celebrate my birthday by taking a challenge and that was to climb Mt Kilimanjaro. The idea came 6 months back & accordingly I prepared myself. I made my plan in such a way so that I reached the summit on 21st June 2017 (my birthday).
