7 Days Classic Lodge Safari

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met and transferred privately to Tulia Hotel in Arusha, where the rest of the day is at leisure. Your guide will meet you at the hotel for a pre-safari briefing and a final check of all the details before your safari begins the next morning.

Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel before heading to Tarangire National Park, Tanzania's third-largest park, known for its vast herds of elephants and iconic baobab trees. The Tarangire River flows year-round and attracts diverse wildlife, creating excellent game viewing as predators and prey gather along its banks. After a full day in the park, settle in for the night at your tented camp inside the park. You can also add an optional night game drive to look for nocturnal creatures such as porcupines, civet cats and aardvarks, with a rare chance of seeing big cats hunting and hippos grazing away from the water.

After breakfast you descend to the crater floor with a packed lunch for a half-day crater tour. The crater shelters almost 30,000 animals in an area naturally enclosed by the slopes of the volcano. The crater's elephants are, unusually, mainly bulls, and there is a small number of black rhino. Birdlife is largely seasonal and is affected by the balance of soda and fresh water on the crater floor. You will also look for lions, elephants, zebras, hippos and buffalo, to name just a few. Afterward you transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, depart for Lake Ndutu in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving at camp in time for lunch. Lake Ndutu is one of a series of alkaline soda lakes and is home to rich game populations, especially during the calving season. In the afternoon you set out on game drives in this wildlife-rich area, returning to camp for dinner. Over these two days you have plenty of time to explore the plains around Ndutu, where large herds of wildebeest gather to give birth and predators follow close behind.

Today you can add an optional hot air balloon safari over the area before enjoying extensive game drives, with the vehicle and guide at your disposal throughout the day. Your travel dates fall during the wildebeest calving season, giving you the chance to witness this great phenomenon of birth. After a memorable day, you drive out of the southern Serengeti and Ndutu area to your lodge for the night.

After breakfast you can go shopping in town or relax at the lodge, time permitting. You will then be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your classic lodge safari. Additional nights in Arusha before your flight can be arranged at extra cost if you would like more time.
