8 Day Tanzania Luxury Safari

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your luxury lodge in Arusha, where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful views of Mount Meru as you prepare for the safari ahead. The rest of the day is free to rest after your journey and settle in before your first game drive tomorrow.

Stay: Gran Melia Arusha

After breakfast, set off for Tarangire National Park, famous for its tree-climbing pythons, massive baobab trees and large herds of elephants. Tarangire may be smaller than some of its neighbors, but it is home to a significant wildlife population, with a density of wildlife matched only by Ngorongoro. Spend the day on game drives exploring the park before arriving at your lodge for the night.

After breakfast, you will be driven into the Ngorongoro Crater for an early morning game drive. The main feature of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is the crater, a large, unbroken, unflooded volcanic caldera formed when a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself some two to three million years ago. It is 610 m (2,000 ft) deep and its floor covers 260 square kilometers (100 square miles); estimates of the original volcano's height range from 4,500 to 5,800 meters (15,000 to 19,000 ft). The crater is famous for the Big Five (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo), along with zebras, gazelles, wildebeest, impalas, hippos and many bird species.

Stay: Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

After an early breakfast, head for the Serengeti with a packed lunch. The Serengeti is Tanzania's oldest and most popular national park, famous for its annual wildebeest migration, which zebras and Thomson's gazelles join in search of fresh grazing. Other animals found here include buffalo, giraffes, elands, topi, kongoni, impalas, Grant's gazelles, lions, cheetahs, leopards and jackals. Game drive en route to your lodge for the night.

After breakfast, enjoy a full day of migration viewing in Serengeti National Park with a packed lunch. The Serengeti is widely regarded as the best wildlife reserve in Africa thanks to its density of predators and prey and the great wildebeest migration. Your guide will take you to the most rewarding areas before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, depart for Lake Natron with a packed lunch, crossing Loliondo via Waso Village before heading down to the lake shores. Enjoy walks on the mud flats around the shores of Lake Natron, viewing the lesser flamingos of East Africa. Together with a local guide, make your way to the waterfalls for some relaxation and swimming before returning to your lodge for the night.

Stay: African Safari Luxury Lodge

After breakfast, set off from Lake Natron to Lake Manyara National Park. The park covers 127 square miles (329 square kilometers), and the lake's alkaline waters cover approximately 89 square miles (231 square kilometers). While best known for its baboons, the lake and surrounding area are home to hippos, impalas, elephants, wildebeest, buffalo, warthogs and giraffes, and you may also see the park's famous tree-climbing lions.

Stay: Lake Manyara Tree Lodge

After breakfast, you will check out from the lodge and be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home, taking with you memories of Tarangire, the Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti, Lake Natron and Lake Manyara. If you would like to extend your trip, additional nights or a beach stay can be arranged at extra cost.
